The images of Judith Rush reveal an extraordinary gift. It is with approximately six years of study of design and art history as well as four years of tutelage prior to the University experience that I come to view her work.
I have NEVER seen a photographer so consistently and deftly control the elements of design with such impact and integrity... Whether landscape, portrait, still life, or any other of her varied images, I find her art timeless and classical.
Emotion, not subject matter, unifies this artist's body of work. Her ability to minimize the incidental, leaving the pure elements of design to do their work is breathtaking. Her instinct to seemingly percolate an image to create an emotional flavor is exquisite. It is her signature. It is this technique which elevates her work to truly fine art.
With all the technical tools available
to the photographer today we are often asked to accept their clever
manipulation as a substitute for masterful control of the medium
and the image. Judith will not ask this of you. She photographs
from the heart and her mastery of the medium is profound but her mastery
of her art is absolute. She is at once both eloquent and elegant. She
is an artist and a photographer of the first magnitude. |
